The
origin and development of modern diplomacy to be discussed
As part of its Inter-Generational Transfer of
Knowledge (IGTK) series, the Forum for Social Studies, will organize a
public lecture aimed at the genesis and development of modern diplomacy
in Ethiopia on 23 November 2007 at 6:00 pm at the Hilton Hotel.
The guest speaker, Ambassador Tiruneh, who had served for many years in
the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), will speak on “The
Origins and Development of Modern Diplomacy in Ethiopia”.
It is hoped that the session will explore and discuss some of the best
practices in the early days of the diplomatic arena and the challenges
facing the diplomats as well as the Ministry.
The lecture series which has been organized every two months under the
broad theme “From Poverty to Development: Intergenerational Transfer of
Knowledge” since the beginning of 2005 have been focusing on the
policies formulated and endeavours undertaken during the period of the
Imperial Regime in order to overcome poverty and to bring about
sustainable development. The speakers were persons who had occupied
important positions in government or in the private sector. The lectures
and the publications that ensued have been deemed very fruitful.
FSS cordially invite the media to cover this important session
