FSS Library - Ethiopian Resource Center on Development Studies
One of the mandates of FSS is to set up a research library to
collect and preserve government documents, publications from the NGO and donor
community, and fugitive literature useful for development and policy research.
The FSS library
collection contains more than 6000 records. These collections includes books,
journals, CD-ROMs, serials and newspapers and are mainly on social issues such
as, sociology, economics, land tenure, food security, poverty, gender etc. All
the collections are catalogued electronically using FileMaker Pro.
The FSS
library is developing its collection by local and foreign purchase, gift and
exchange with different libraries locally and abroad. The FSS library users will
be informed about the new acquisitions using FSS monthly update.
The FSS
library is free and open to researchers from government departments, NGOs, civic
groups, donor agencies and academic institutions. We, at FSS, believe such a
library is an important asset to many agencies which at present are constrained
by lack of access to important documents and data sources.
The FSS Library has a
capacity of giving service for 35 users at a time.
