organizes its second Inter-generational Transfer of Knowledge
(Addis Ababa) The Forum for
Social Studies launches a Public Lecture Series to promote inter-generational
transfer of knowledge. The program will feature some of the senior and
experienced citizens to share their knowledge and experience with the young
generation.
Ato Asfaw Damte who is a poet and an economist shares his
educational and work experience for the gathering here at the Hilton Hotel.
The Lectures will be held every two months for about a
year and a half. Currently, two Public lecture series has been held.
The first program which was held on January
28, 2005 at similar venue had invited Ato Shimeles Adugna, the President of
Ethiopian Red Cross Society, who had played the crucial role in combating
food insecurity, drought and famine since the Imperial Era to discuss his
experience.
The central theme of the lecture was on issues
related to tackling poverty, development planning and management.
On the second series, at a gathering which was
held on March 20, 2005 at the Hilton Hotel, Dr. Djazmach Zewdie G. Silassie,
has highlighted the importance of using the country's natural resources,
particularly, water resources for tackling poverty. Emphasizing the benefits
of the Nile River for development activities, Dr. Djazmach Zewdie G.
Silassie said the Nile Basin countries should work for equitable share of
the Nile.
FSS believes this kind of lectures would help
to boost the efforts in combating poverty and promote development
management. |
